We are at 5416 Eisenhower Ave in Alexandria's West End, next to the Van Dorn Street Metro station (Blue Line), with free parking, and a short drive from Old Town, Kingstowne, Landmark, Springfield, Annandale and Arlington.

Common questions about No-Gi grappling classes at One Way Martial Arts in Alexandria, VA.

  • No-Gi submission grappling is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practiced without the traditional uniform (gi). You train in a rash guard and shorts, using body-control grips like underhooks and wrist control instead of cloth grips.

  • Wear a rash guard (or fitted t-shirt) and grappling shorts or athletic shorts without pockets or zippers. No-Gi does not require a traditional Gi uniform.

  • They are different, not harder. No-Gi is faster-paced with more scrambles since there are no cloth grips. Many students find No-Gi more intuitive at first. Training both styles builds the most complete grappling skill set.

  • No. Our No-Gi Fundamentals classes are built for complete beginners, and your first class is free.

  • No-Gi classes are led by 4x IBJJF World Champion and professional MMA fighter Mahamed Aly and BJJ black belt Patrick Almeida.

  • Classes are held at One Way Martial Arts, 5416 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA 22304, right off the Van Dorn Street Metro (Blue Line) with free on-site parking. We train students from Alexandria, Arlington, Springfield, Annandale and Fairfax.
